Author's Description
Join the crew of the HMB Impulsive on this parody of ST: TOS "The Gamesters of Triskelion." Lt. Tonio Cruz Security Officer Straus and Engineering Minion Dionysus are kidnapped by gambling addict aliens to participate in their skating competitions. They'll have to use all their skills (and Cruz's sex appeal) to escape or else become slaves to the Roller Derby of Death.
Why I Chose it
Writing a parody of a popular show can be difficult. If it's too far from the original, you lose the sense of familiarity. If it's too far, it gets boring. This one walks that line deftly, with enough nods to the original Star Trek that the reader gets the joke, but enough novelty that the story pulls you forward.
(And if you enjoy what is in the serial, there are five books in this universe already published.)
